Alison Sweeney is leaving NBC’s “The Biggest Loser.” Sweeney will not be present for the hit weight loss reality competition’s 17th season, which begins shooting this September.
“After an incredible run together, Alison Sweeney will not be returning as host of ‘The Biggest Loser’ next season,” producers of the series told Access Hollywood in a statement on Tuesday.
Sweeney began hosting the show in 2007 with Season 4, and has been at the helm each season since. Prior, Caroline Rhea (“Sabrina, the Teenage Witch”) was host.
In addition to her hosting duties on “Biggest Loser,” Sweeney is best known for playing Sami Brady on long-running soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” which she departed in 2014, after more than two decades. However, she will return for the soap’s 50th anniversary this November.
Besides the “Days” anniversary special, up next, Sweeney will star in Hallmark Channel’s “Love On the Air” on Sept. 26 — the telepic, which she also exec produces, is the first project she sold to the network. Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ “Murder She Baked” movie franchise also has its second TV flick, starring Sweeney and Cameron Mathison, debuting Nov. 15 with the third movie slated for early 2016.
