The PlayStation 4 might be getting its first PlayStation 2 games, if recent listings from European software ratings board PEGI are to be believed.
PEGI’s website lists new ratings for PS4 versions of PS2 games Ape Escape 2, Dark Chronicle (or Dark Cloud 2 in the States) and Twisted Metal: Black, according to a report by Gematsu.
A PS4 release on the PlayStation Network Store would mark the first digital retail versions for Ape Escape 2 and Dark Cloud 2. Twisted Metal: Black previously made it to the PlayStation 3 as a downloadable PS2 classic on the PSN.
PlayStation 2 games have been available on the PSN for several years, while none are currently available on the PlayStation 4. These three titles’ appearance on PEGI’s “New Games” list suggests that PS2 games could finally be coming to the PS4. The PS4 does not currently offer backward compatibility with any previous PlayStation console, disc-based or digitally.
While Sony has not officially confirmed the arrival of these three PS2 titles or any others to its current console, its Tokyo Game Show event tomorrow might reveal answers, and prove that the company has found its easy method.
