Lifetime has announced the full cast for “Un-Break My Heart,” its movie based on singer Toni Braxton’s memoir about her struggles with illness, financial troubles and divorce while navigating her son’s autism and family struggles.
Debbi Morgan (“Power,” “All My Children”) will play Braxton’s mother, Evelyn, while Gavin Houston (“Guiding Light”) will play her frequent collaborator, producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. Cortney Scott Wright, Skye P. Marshall (“Public Morals”) and LaToya Franklyn (“Subways”) have also been cast as Braxton’s sisters and fellow singers, Traci, Towanda and Trina Braxton. It was previously announced that Tiffany Hines (“Devious Maids”) would play Braxton’s other sister, singer Tamar Braxton, and that Lex Scott Davis would play Braxton herself.
As opposed to other Lifetime projects like TV movies about cult TV series like “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Melrose Place,” “Un-Break My Heart” is an authorized life story with Braxton exec producing and guest-starring in the film. Other exec producers are Craig Baumgarten, Erik Kritzer and Marcus Grant. Written by Susan McMartin and directed by Vondie Curtis Hall, “Un-Break My Heart” is produced by Link Entertainment.
The WE tv series “Braxton Family Values,” a reality series centered around the five Braxton sisters and their mother, recently wrapped its fourth season.
