The Wii U might not have much of a Christmas line-up, but their new hardware bundle still makes for a tempting Christmas present.
Originally the big Wii U release for Christmas was supposed to be the new Legend Of Zelda, and then once that got delayed it was Star Fox Zero, and then when that got delayed all it was left with was… Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash and Xenoblade Chronicles X.
They might turn out to be good games but they’re unlikely to be systems sellers, but Mario Kart 7 and Splatoon are – or at least as close as the Wii U has ever got to such a thing. They’re certainly two of the best games of the current generation, and so getting them together in a bundle with a Wii U Premium console seems a pretty good deal.
Although Mario Kart 8 is pre-installed and Splatoon is just a download code, thereby using up most of the Wii U’s storage before you’ve even started.
Nintendo isn’t allowed to set UK prices but the bundle is due to sell for around £240, or potentially much less if you find the right deal.
The bundle will be released on October 30, although it doesn’t seem to be listed on any of the major retail sites yet.
