the-librariansHulu has acquired exclusive subscription VOD rights to past episodes of TNT’s drama series “The Librarians,” starring Noah Wyle and Rebecca Romijn — two weeks before season 2 of the show premieres on the cabler.

The pickup is the latest move in the battle among Internet streamers for TV shows this fall, with a flurry of deals announced in recent weeks by Netflix, Amazon and Hulu.

Starting Friday, all 10 episodes “The Librarians” season one are streaming exclusively on Hulu, to let viewers catch up ahead of the sophomore season debut Nov. 1 on TNT. Hulu acquired rights to “The Librarians” under a new pact with Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment.

The show is available to Hulu subscribers on the limited-commercial $7.99 per month plan or the commercial-free $11.99 monthly option.

“The Librarians” centers on Flynn Carsen (played by Wyle, “ER,” “Falling SKies”), who appears to be an ordinary librarian at the world-famous Metropolitan Library. But under the public library lies the centuries-old headquarters of scholars and adventurers who investigate bizarre phenomena, collect dangerous artifacts — and save the world from supernatural threats.

The show’s cast also includes Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim and John Larroquette. “The Librarians” is exec produced by Dean Devlin, John Rogers, Marc Roskin and Noah Wyle.
