Genesis Rodgriguez is set to star opposite Kevin James in the upcoming comedy The True Memoirs of an International Assassin. Variety has the news, reporting that Genesis Rodriguez will play an undercover DEA Agent who teams up with James’ character after her cover is blown.
The True Memoirs of an International Assassin follows James as a mild-mannered accountant and would-be author who is mistaken for a killer-for-hire when his fictional novel about an international assassin is published as a true story. Trying to escape his sudden fame and celebrity, he heads to Belize but is immediately entangled in an assassination plot. Thrown into a world of real danger, he must find a way to channel his lead character, Colt Rodgers, and save the day.
Genesis Rodriguez has had quit a few recent big screen releases, including Jaume Collet-Serra’s Run All Night, Seth Gordon’s Identity Thief and Kevin Smith’s Tusk, to name a few. Genesis Rodriguez is also well known to Disney fans for voicing Honey Lemon in last year’s Big Hero 6.
Kick-Ass 2 helmer Jeff Wadlow is directing The True Memoirs of an International Assassin from an original Black List script by Jeff Morris. Todd Garner (Paul Blart: Mall Cop, XXX) and Kevin Frakes are producing alongside Raja Collins and Justin Begnaud (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night) of Global Film Group and Raj Brinder Singh (American Ultra) of Merced Media. Hey Eddie’s Jeff Sussman (Zookeeper) and PalmStar Media’s Mark Fasano and Buddy Patrick will executive produce.
PalmStar Media and Global Film Group are producing The True Memoirs of an International Assassin. Merced Media and PalmStar are financing with Netflix having recently secured domestic distribution. Look for the film to debut exclusively via the streaming service in 2016.
