Call of Duty: Black Ops III has many fans, especially on the console side, but there are those who play the game on their PCs, too. This exclusive group will get a little extra from the game in the form of mods and mapping tools sometime next year.
At the top of the list is the fairly obvious, if also somewhat vague, description that users will be able to make maps as well as game mods. On the server side, Treyarch will provide unranked dedicated server files along with a certain set of tools for creators to run servers that include modded content. There will also be an unranked server browser to make the process of finding servers with modded content a little easier.
Other than that, details are slim, including word on the exact release date. However, the development team at Treyarch has a March 2016 window for closed alpha testing. No plans are set in place yet for its open beta, but with the alpha planned for March, it’s safe to assume that the beta and final release could come as early as the end of spring, or even sometime during the summer.
