Google made an organizational change with respect to its cloud-based products.
Moving forward, Google for Work, Cloud Platform, and Google Apps will all fall under the purview of Diane Greene where they can be managed together.
“This new business will bring together product, engineering, marketing and sales and allow us to operate in a much more integrated, coordinated fashion,” said Google CEO Sundar Pichai in a blog post.
As part of the re-organization, Google has agreed to acquire a company called bebop, which offers an enterprise app development platform. Greene is the founder of bebop and will join Google once the acquisition closes. Google believes the new structure will help its cloud businesses run more efficiently.
Earlier this year, Google became one of many companies under Alphabet, an umbrella organization which is headed by Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergei Brin.
