Facebook plans to stop uploading users’ photos automatically unless they download and install the Facebook Moments app.
Facebook has long offered to sync smartphone photos automatically in order to promote sharing. Moving forward, however, Facebook will only offer this feature through a separate app called Moments. Customers who install Moments will continue to have access to all their uploaded photos.
Customers who don’t wish to use Moments will be prompted to download their photos to a PC or delete them. Automatic photo syncing will cease January 10. Facebook is already pushing customers to use the Moments app. Moments lets users organize, share, download, or delete photos.
It is free to download for Android and iOS.
