We already know Jeremy Renner is pretty clutch with a bow and arrow when he’s playing Hawkeye, but can he put up his dukes and fight like a man? Seems so, as The Hollywood Reporter says that Renner is slipping on the big red gloves to portray a legendary boxer in the biopic Undefeated: The Rocky Marciano Story.
The expansive story will follow the Brockton, Massachusetts native from his childhood through his death in a plane crash in 1969, when Marciano died the only heavyweight champ in history with an undefeated record of 49-0.
Featuring a screenplay by Samuel Franco and Evan Kilgore (Butterflies of Bill Baker), Undefeated: The Rocky Marciano Story is currently searching for a director. Morris S. Levy (The Ten), owner of the rights to Marciano’s life story, will produce the film.
Renner will next be seen opposite his American Hustle co-star Amy Adams in Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi drama Story of your Life, and will reprise his role of Clint Barton/Hawkeye for the fourth time in Captain America: Civil War.
