In September, Sony showed off the latest games on PlayStation for its Japanese audience at Tokyo Game Show. Most of the titles presented onstage were targeted towards the Japanese fanbase, meaning that these games would never make their way to Europe or North America. However, one publishing company wants to change that. Bandai Namco announced that a few more Japanese titles will make their way to North America starting next year.
A total of five titles are slated for release in North America. Those who own a PlayStation 4 will be able to play four of the five games: Tales of Berseria, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven, God Eater Resurrection and God Eater 2: Rage Burst. Most of these are new projects with the exception of God Eater Resurrection, which is a remastered version of the original PlayStation Portable game.
However, some of the games are also coming to the PlayStation Vita, such as the two God Eater titles. The only Vita exclusive on the list is the fifth game: Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs-Force. The Vita handheld isn’t as popular in North America as it is in Japan, but it’s reassuring to know that Bandai Namco hasn’t forgotten about the PlayStation console’s portable cousin.
Bandai Namco said that these games are slated for “in 2016 and beyond,” meaning that some of the aforementioned products might not make their way to North America until the end of the year or even into 2017. However, that’s more than enough time for other Japanese-based publishers to take note of Bandai Namco’s experiment to see if more Japanese games could lure in a potentially large North American and European audience.
