Nissan recently used the Detroit Auto Show to release the Titan Warrior Concept, a hardcore off-road take on the brand’s pickup that sits just above typical half-ton trucks but just below three-quarter-ton trucks. The brawny additions that Nissan designers added to the Titan are welcome, making the pickup look bolder without being a carbon copy of the Ford Raptor.
The Warrior concept starts with a powertrain from the current Titan XD that combines a 5.0-liter V8 diesel and six-speed automatic transmission, but Nissan fits a custom suspension to prepare the truck to hit some dunes. The upgrades include new control arms, rear sway bar, and fitment of internal bypass reservoir shocks.
Photos of the Warrior on display at the Detroit Auto Show and demonstrate how significantly the upgrades improve the pickup’s design. The wider fenders add a total of six inches to the Titan’s width, but notice how Nissan cuts out around them at the front to fit the redesigned headlights and taillights. The front fascia now wears a big skid plate at the bottom, and the company carries this styling motif to the side sills and around the exhaust. The matte silver body with orange accents is the perfect color combination to show off these details, too. Hopefully, Nissan can bring some of these elements to the road in a future Titan variant.
