According to TheWrap, actress Hayley Atwell has scored the lead role in ABC’s new drama pilot Conviction. If Marvel’s Agent Carter gets picked up for a third season, there exists the potential for Atwell to appear in both series simultaneously, or she could simply be hedging her bets given Carter’s relatively low ratings, although a move to Netflix for Season 3 is not out of the question.
According to the trade, Atwell will play Carter Morrison, a “brilliant but ne’er-do-well daughter of a former president, who is blackmailed into taking a job as the head of Los Angeles’ newly created Conviction Integrity Unit. She and her team of lawyers, investigators and forensic experts work together to examine cases where there’s credible suspicion that the wrong person may have been convicted of a crime.”
Marvel’s Agent Carter stars Hayley Atwell in the title role alongside Chad Michael Murray as Agent Jack Thompson and Enver Gjokaj as Chief Daniel Sousa. Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Bridget Regan as Dottie Underwood, Wynn Everett as Whitney Frost, Reggie Austin as Dr. Jason Wilkes, Currie Graham as Calvin Chadwick, Lotte Verbeek as Ana Jarvis, Lesley Boone as Rose, Ken Marino as mob boss Joseph Manfredi, and Kurtwood Smith as Vernon Masters. It airs Tuesdays at 9 PM EST on ABC.
