CBS has, according to a story from Deadline, set Bill Paxton as one of the leads of their upcoming Training Day TV series. Bill Paxton will play Detective Frank Rourke, the “bad cop” with whom a young, idealistic officer is partnered.
Antoine Fuqua is also returning for the Training Day TV series, set to direct the pilot episode. Writer and former LAPD detective Will Beall (Gangster Squad) is attached to provide the script. (David Ayer, who wrote the original film, currently has his hands full helming August’s big screen DC Comics adaptation, Suicide Squad). Also returning for the Training Day TV series is producer Jerry Bruckheimer (Bad Boys, Pirates of the Caribbean), who will executive produce the show alongside Jonathan Littman (the CSI franchise), Fuqua and Beall for Warner Bros. and Fuqua Films. Bruckheimer previously produced Fuqua’s 2004 adaptation of King Arthur.
The original Training Day starred Ethan Hawke opposite Denzel Washington. Washington took home an Academy Award for his performance while Hawke himself was nominated.
Bill Paxton, who has recently starred in films like Nightcrawler and Edge of Tomorrow, also played a recurring role on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and headlined the recent History miniseries, Texas Rising. He can soon be seen in the hitman thriller Term Life, starring opposite Vince Vaughn and Hailee Steinfeld.
