If that photo of Shelby’s parents in Sunday’s Quantico brought to yopur viewing past on the Upper East Side and precocious, privileged teenagers, here’s why: The picture featured Gossip Girl‘s Kelly Rutherford, who has been cast as Agent Wyatt’s presumed-dead (until recently) mother.
Rutherford will kick off her multiple-episode arc as Laura in next week’s Quantico; Laura’s husband Glenn, played by Almost Perfect‘s Kevin Kilner, will make his debut then, too. As those who watched this week’s installment are aware, Shelby learned that her parents — whom she’d believed to have died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks — actually are alive and have been hiding from her for 15 years.
According to the official character description, Laura and Glenn’s arrival “complicates Caleb’s relationship with both Shelby and his own mother.” We’re going to use one of Iris’ favorite words here: Intriguing, no?
Rutherford, of course, played Lily van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl, on which Quantico boss Joshua Safran was showrunner. Her recent TV credits include Bones, Reckless, The Mysteries of Laura and Being Mary Jane.
