Variety is reporting that former Batman Michael Keaton is in early talks to play the Spider-Man: Homecoming villain opposite Tom Holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man! If a deal is made, Keaton would also join Marisa Tomei, who plays Aunt May, and Disney Channel star Zendaya in a mystery role.
Jon Watts will direct the film from a script by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. Marvel‘s Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing the movie, which focuses on a teenage Peter Parker’s high school days. The film opens in theaters and IMAX on July 7, 2017.
“It really is a homecoming,” Holland told the CinemaCon audience last night when revealing the film’s title, “because, throughout the movie, Peter is trying to find out who he is and where he belongs in this world.”
Fans will get to see Holland’s webslinger interacting with their favorite Marvel superheroes a lot sooner than next summer, as Spidey is making his debut in Captain America: Civil War.
