Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures have released the first The Girl on the Train trailer, starring Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson, Haley Bennett, Justin Theroux, Luke Evans, Allison Janney, Edgar Ramirez, Lisa Kudrow and Laura Prepon. Check out the trailer below, along with the poster below!
In the thriller, Rachel (Blunt), who is devastated by her recent divorce, spends her daily commute fantasizing about the seemingly perfect couple who live in a house that her train passes every day, until one morning she sees something shocking happen there and becomes entangled in the mystery that unfolds.
Blunt plays Rachel with Theroux taking the role of Rachel’s ex husband, Tom. Ferguson, then, is Anna, Tom’s new wife, while Bennett and Evans are playing a married neighbor couple that wind up inextricably tied to the plot.
Based on Paula Hawkins’ bestselling novel, The Girl on the Train is directed by Tate Taylor (The Help, Get on Up) and adapted for the screen by Erin Cressida Wilson and Taylor. The film is produced by Marc Platt (Bridge of Spies, Into the Woods) while the executive producers are Jared LeBoff and Celia Costas.
Hawkins’ novel sold over 2 million copies worldwide and was the #1 book on the New York Times bestseller list for 19 weeks following its release.
The Girl on the Train will be released by Universal Pictures on October 7.
