Microsoft and Alphabet, parent company of Google, have agreed to cease all ongoing regulatory fights between them.
Microsoft has complained to US and European Union antitrust regulators often and loudly with respect to Google’s search practices and other behaviors. Microsoft said it has changed its legal priorities and would rather compete against Microsoft in the open market for business and for customers.
Google said the change in legal strategy is partly due to the firms’ dismissal last year of patent lawsuits.
“Our companies compete vigorously, but we want to do so on the merits of our products, not in legal proceedings,” said Google.
Rather than file complaints with governmental bodies, Microsoft and Google will reach out to one another directly if business-related problems arise.
