According to Variety, Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley is attached to star in the pre-World War II romantic drama The Lost Wife, based on the novel by Alyson Richman.
Set in 1930’s Prague, the story follows a talented art student named Lenka (Ridley) as she falls in love with her best friend’s older brother Josef. Their life together is torn apart by the imminent Nazi invasion.
Robbie Brenner (Dallas Buyers Club) is producing The Lost Wife, with Marc Klein (Mirror Mirror) adapting the screenplay. No studio or director is attached, though it is hoped that both may be acquired at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
Ridley is currently reprising her role as Rey in Star Wars: Episode VIII, and has also signed on to star in Marielle Heller’s Israeli fantasy Kolma.
