Highland Film Group‘s upcoming noir thriller Terminal has signed comedy stars Simon Pegg (Star Trek, The World’s End) and Mike Myers (the Austin Powers trilogy, Shrek movies) to join lead Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street, Suicide Squad) in the Vaughn Stein film. Max Irons (The Host, Woman in Gold) and Eddie the Eagle director Dexter Fletcher (Kick-Ass) will also star in the film, which has begun shooting in Hungary.
Currently in pre-production, with casting still underway for the remaining roles, the film tells the story of two hit men (Fletcher and Irons) as they embark on a borderline suicide mission for a mysterious employer and a high paycheck. Along the way, the unlikely pair find a dynamic woman named Annie (Margot Robbie) who may be more involved than they had originally suspected.
Stein is primarily known as an assistant director, having worked on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, World War Z, Les Misérables, and In the Heart of the Sea. This marks his debut feature as a director.
David Barron of BeaglePug (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, The Legend of Tarzan) and Molly Hassell (The Trust) will produce alongside Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, Sophia Kerr and Margot Robbie under their production company LuckyChap Entertainment. Stein is also penning the screenplay with Highland Film Group financing and introducing the project to international buyers in Berlin. Highland and CAA are co-representing the U.S. rights.
Pegg will next co-star in and co-write this summer’s blockbuster threequel Star Trek Beyond from director Justin Lin, while this will mark Myers’ first on-camera film role since 2009’s Inglourious Basterds. He is also creating a series for HBO.
