Today HTC has made a rather unexpected product announcement, the HTC Vive Business Edition. While the product is almost the same as the consumer edition, coming with two controllers, four face pads and two base stations, by becoming a Business Edition members and paying the extra $400, companies will get a dedicated support line, 12-month warranty (certain exclusions and limitations apply), as well as the option to purchase more than just one headset.
“Virtual reality has already proven its appeal among consumers and is now revealing its potential for enterprise, says VP Daniel O’Brien. “We are answering the overwhelming demand from global industries for a complete VR experience.”
HTC is betting that larger businesses are looking to get up and running with virtual reality without having to go black market to get ahold of multiple headsets and having someone to call if they are running into problems.
For those businesses who may be interested in this offer, the Vive Business Edition is available in the US, Canada, UK, Germany and France, and will be rolled out to the rest of the world shortly.
