Kate Walsh will make her TV return with 13 Reasons Why, Netflix’s upcoming young adult drama from Selena Gomez.
Walsh will play the mother of Hannah, a teen who — before committing suicide — send a box of audiotapes to her classmates, telling them the roles they played in her death, Deadline reports.
Based on the 2007 young-adult novel by Jay Asher, 13 Reasons Why follows Clay (played by Dylan Minnette, Scandal) as he receives the box of tapes and instructions to pass them along to 12 other students. The project got a straight-to-series, 13-episode order from the streaming video service in October.
Gomez executive-produces the drama along with mom Mandy Teefey, Kristel Laiblin and Anonymous Content.
Walsh’s TV resume includes Private Practice, Grey’s Anatomy, Fargo, Full Circle and Bad Judge.
