The decision to end the series is believed to be Maron’s. IFC president Jennifer Caserta confirmed that “Maron” would end with Wednesday’s episode.

“IFC feels incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Marc and to bring his unique vision for a television show to our viewers, and we support his decision to bring the series to a close after this remarkable fourth season. We are enormously proud of ‘Maron’ and the comedic, poignant and deeply personal ride Marc has taken us on. He is an incredibly authentic talent and we wish him nothing but the best.”

“Maron” is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios. The series is executive produced by Maron with Apostle’s Denis Leary and Jim Serpico as well as Michael Jamin and Sivert Glarum. Tom Sellitti is co-executive producer.

With “Maron” coming to an end, IFC’s original comedy slate includes new series “Stan Against Evil” and the second season of “Documentary Now!” coming this year, with new series “Brockmire” and a new season of “Portlandia” coming in the first half of 2017.
