XCOM 2 release on consoles has been pushed out. The strategy game’s original release date for PS4 and Xbox One was pegged for September 6, but it’s now been delayed by three weeks.
Take-Two president Karl Slatoff made the announcement as part of the company’s quarterly earnings call. He said that the three-week delay was made in order to “ensure the game is fully polished at launch and meets the team’s high standards.” He added that 2K and Firaxis Games will continue to support the PC version with free and paid DLC after XCOM 2’s console launch.
XCOM 2’s new PS4 and Xbox One release date is September 27 in North America. It releases internationally on September 30. The console versions offer a few improvements and new features that weren’t present when the game launched on PC. Mod support for consoles has not been announced.
