Nintendo today said its famed Mario character will come to the iPhone for the first time. Nintendo plans to bring a game called Super Mario Run to iOS devices.
The side-scroller features hopping and jumping movements based on tapping and swiping the screen. Super Mario Run will also feature “battle mode” for multi-player action. The game will be sold at a single price with no in-app purchases for unlimited playing.
Availability is slated for before the holidays. Nintendo has long resisted making the leap from its own consoles to today’s mobile platforms, iOS and Android.
