Gareth Edwards’ upcoming Rogue One, Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm‘s first “Star Wars Story” spinoff film, is today making a creative change. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the formerly-attached Alexandre Desplat is stepping down as the Rogue One composer due to a schedule conflict created as a result of the film’s recent reshoots. Replacing him will be Michael Giacchino who, in addition to being a massive fan of the franchise, took home an Academy Award for his work on Up.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story tells the tale of resistance fighters who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star. The film takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set for release on December 16, 2016.
