Following the move from CBS to The CW for its second season, Supergirl is already breaking records for the network. The show premiered to 3.024 million viewers, giving The CW its highest ratings in that time slot in eight years, its best adults 18-49 ratings in nearly six years, its highest adults 18-34 rating in five years, and their highest-rated show ever in its time period among men.
The series premiere of Supergirl fell just short of The Flash‘s Season 3 premiere ratings, which brought in 3.2 million total viewers, but exceeded the ratings of Arrow‘s fifth season premiere, which brought in just 1.9 million total viewers. It’s also worth noting the dip in viewers for Supergirl following its move to The CW, which brought in 12.96 million total viewers with its pilot episode premiere and 6.11 million with its season finale; though the threshold for success is different on CBS and The CW.
Melissa Benoist leads the cast of Supergirl as the title character alongside Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, Jenna Dewan Tatum as Lucy Lane (sister of Lois), David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord, with Dean Cain and Helen Slater. Supergirl season two is also adding recurring roles for Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor, Floriana Lima as Maggie Sawyer, Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, and Lynda Carter as the President of the United States.
Supergirl airs at 8/7c p.m. Mondays on The CW.
