Chris Rock is returning to stand-up comedy with two all-new specials on Netflix, the streaming service announced Thursday. And he’s getting paid a pretty penny to do it: Rock will be paid a total of $40 million for the specials, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The specials will mark Rock’s first stand-up shows in eight years; the first will tape next year, with a world tour to follow. No premiere date has been set at this time of this posting
“Chris Rock is a beloved actor and director, and his remarkable stand-up makes him comic royalty,” Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos said in a statement. “There is no one like him, and Netflix offers the global platform and creative freedom that will serve as a perfect home for someone with his incredible talent.”
