Facebook has made it possible to cast video straight from the News Feed to television sets. iPhone owners and web users can push News Feed video to their Apple TV or Google Chromecast starting today.
Android devices will be able to push News Feed view to a Chromecast device in the near future, though Facebook didn’t say exactly when.
Mobile device owners will be able to browse through their Facebook News Feed while casting videos from their phone to their TV and queue up more videos if they wish. The feature supports Facebook Live Video, too, and will show live reactions and comments on the TV just as it does in the mobile app.
Casting is controlled via a small “TV” icon that appears in the upper corner of the app. Facebook for iOS and Android is free to download from the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store.
