The Hollywood Reporter confirms that John Wick‘s David Leitch will helm Deadpool 2. As previously reported, though, plans for Deadpool 3 are already in the works and the trade confirms that a hunt is underway for a different Deadpool director there.
Leitch co-directed John Wick with Chad Stahleski. In addition to years of experience working second unit, the pair also own and operate 87Eleven Action Design, a Hollywood choreography studio that builds fight sequences and trains stuntmen for some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters.
Since releasing the hit Keanu Reeves actioner in 2014, Leitch and Stahleski have been busy on a number of projects, including adaptations of Valiant‘s Bloodshot and Image Comics‘ Cowboy Ninja Viking (the latter of which has Chris Pratt attached to play the lead). Before all of that, though, 2017 is bringing us both the Leitch-helmed The Coldest City, starring Charlize Theron, James McAvoy, and the Stahleski-helmed John Wick: Chapter 2, set for a February 10, 2017 release.
Screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, “the real heroes here” who penned the first film, are returning for Deadpool 2. Reynolds is again serving as a producer on Deadpool 2 alongside X-Men franchise caretakers Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner.
While Deadpool 2 is said to introduce Cable and Domino (at least), recent reports suggest that Deadpool 3 will flesh out a full X-Force team.
