THQ Nordic – the company formally known as Nordic Games – has confirmed that it has a pair of Nintendo Switch titles in development.
CEO Lars Wingefors revealed the news during an announcement regarding the company’s latest IP acquisitions. THQ Nordic now owns the rights to Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, War Leaders: Clash of Nations and Legends of War. Wingefors said:
These are not financially material acquisitions, but due to our love for these types of games they were natural acquisition targets that add up to our portfolio. Moreover, we also got a lot of messages from fans that encouraged us to add them. Among these titles, Sphinx (and the Cursed Mummy) is very well suited for the Nintendo audience – which we love to support. We are excited for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo’s new platform, and already have two other projects in development for it.
Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy originally released on the PS2, Xbox and GameCube back in 2003, and was developed by Eurocom and published by the original THQ. War Leaders: Clash of Nations is a PC-based real-time tactics game, while Legends of War is a turn-based strategy which has been released on PSP, PS3, Xbox 360, PC and PS Vita.
