Netflix has acquired worldwide rights for To the Bone, the feature debut of Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV writer Marti Noxon. According to Deadline, Netflix bought the rights for $8 million dollars after the film made its world debut in the U.S. Dramatic Competition the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.

Directed and written by Noxon, the film stars Lily Collins, Keanu Reeves, Carrie Preston, Lili Taylor, Alex Sharp and Liana Liberato.

Based on the real-life experiences of Noxon, To the Bone shares the story of 20-year-old Ellen and her battle with anorexia. Ellen enters a group home run by an unconventional doctor where she and the other residents go on a sometimes funny, sometimes harrowing journey — navigating their addictions and finding the path to choosing life.

The film was produced by Julie Lynn and Bonnie Curtis of Mockingbird Pictures, Karina Miller of Sparkhouse Media, and Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi of AMBI Group. Talal Al Abbar, Joseph Lanius, Anita Gou and Matthew J Malek serve as executive producers.

To the Bone will debut later this year to Netflix’s 93+ million members around the world
