Johnny Knoxville has a new project lined per a report coming for The Hollywood Reporter. The Jackass star and producer is set to take on Action Park, a new comedy feature from Paramount Pictures and Knoxville’s own Dickhouse Pictures. Scripted by Knoxville alongside Silicon Valley co-creators John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky, Action Park will be also produced by Knoxville alongside Derek Freda and Billy Gerber.
Likely inspired by Vernon, New Jersey’s infamous real-life Action Park, the Action Park imagines the disastrous consequences of a theme park run by Knoxville and his friends. Tim Kirkby, who has primarily worked on the small screen directing shows like Veep, Brockmire and Man Seeking Woman, will take the director’s chair on Action Park.
Knoxville is no stranger to working with Paramount. The studio released all three Jackass films as well as the 2013 release Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. Knoxville also lent his voice to Leonardo in the studio’s 2014 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He did not, however, reprise the role for last summer’s followup, Out of the Shadows. Most recently, Knoxville teamed with Jackie Chan for last year’s action comedy Skiptrace.
Collectively, the four Jackass theatrical releases have brought in more than $487 million at the worldwide box office.
Action Park will begin production in South Africa this March
