Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill) and Rob Riggle (The Hangover, The Daily Show) have joined the cast of the upcoming film The War with Grandpa, according to Deadline. They’ll join Christopher Walken and Robert De Niro in the film, which is based on the 1984 children’s book by Robert Kimmel Smith.
Here is the official description for the book from Amazon:
“Peter is thrilled that Grandpa is coming to live with his family. That is, until Grandpa moves right into Peter’s room, forcing him upstairs. Peter loves his grandpa but wants his room back. He has no choice but to declare war! With the help of his friends, Peter devises outrageous plans to make Grandpa surrender the room. But Grandpa is tougher than he looks. Rather than give in, Grandpa plans to get even. They used to be such great pals. Has their war gone too far?”
This comedy will also have one of the youngest credited producers in history. The book was reportedly brought to Marro Films CEO Rosa Morris-Peart by her eight-year-old son Marvin III. He’d read the book for school and “thought it would make a very cool movie,” according to the site. Marvin, who is now 11-years old, will get executive producer credit on The War with Grandpa.
The film will be financed by Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films CEO Randall Emmett, George Furla and Tri G LLC will co-finance the picture with Marro Films. Tim Hill will direct The War with Grandpa.
