Tom Cruise while doing promotional press for The Mummy in Australia was asked on Sunrise (Think Today Show or GMA for Australia) if a Top Gun sequel is happening.
Cruise confirmed that: “I’m gonna start filming it probably in the next year.”
The sequel has long been in the works with Justin Marks penning the screenplay which will be set in contemporary world of drones and fifth generation fighters.
Tony Scott had been slated to direct the film before his death in 2012. At this time the replacement helmer has not been hired
