Jennifer Connelly will star opposite Daveed Diggs in the pilot for the Snowpiercer TV series adaptation for TNT.
Based on the acclaimed 2013 Bong Joon-ho film, which itself was based on the French comic “Le Transperceneige,” the futuristic thriller is set seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, and the remnants of humanity inhabit a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe. Class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival are questioned.
Diggs will star as Layton Well, a prisoner barely surviving the harsh conditions in the tail end of the train who becomes a reluctant participant in a struggle that could upend life on the train. Connelly will play Melanie Cavill, a First Class passenger who works as the Voice of the Train – responsible for making the daily announcements over its PA system.
Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange) is set to direct the project and serve as an executive producer on the series alongside showrunner Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles).
