Instagram today added a feature to its live video tool: the ability to add a second participant.
When broadcasting live video, a new button makes it possible to invite another to join the broadcast. When that person accepts, the live video will change to a split-screen view with the original broadcaster in one window and the invitee in another.
The original broadcaster can remove their guest and add someone else at any time, and so too can the invitee leave the stream whenever they wish. A new symbol (two stacked circles) makes it easy to see when live video includes more than one participant.
Instagram says the new live video feature is rolling out to the latest version of its Android and iOS mobile apps.
