Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller are set to produce a live-action film adaptation of the popular Nickelodeon children’s series Dora the Explorer for Paramount Pictures’ new Paramount Players division.
Nick Stoller (Neighbors, The Muppets) will work on the script for the project which has been in active for a few years. At last report Tom Wheeler (Puss in Boots) was working on the script.
The story follows Dora who isn’t a seven-year-old American Latina like on the TV series, rather she’s now a teenager who moves to the city to live with her cousin Diego.
The show has been translated worldwide, produced merchandising ranging from Legos to video games and even saw stage shows. No release date for the film has been set beyond a roughly targeted 2019 release.
