Coming in at 6’4″ and weighing 245 pounds, 27-year-old Romanian boxer Florian ‘Big Nasty’ Munteanu has been cast in the role of the son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) in the upcoming sequel to the Rocky spin-off film Creed according to The Tracking Board.
Munteanu’s character will fight Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Creed in the ring, a next generational rematch following the fight between their fathers that kicked off Rocky IV and resulted in Apollo Creed’s death.
Steven Caple Jr. (The Land) helms the new film which Stallone co-wrote with Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker. Filming begins in Philadelphia in March ahead of a November 21st release.
The first Creed earned over $173 million at the worldwide box office and scored Stallone a Best Supporting actor Golden Globe win and an Oscar nomination. Scheduling has prevented director Ryan Coogler from returning to helm.
