Wow the old hand held is far from dead! Per NPD Group the 3DS racked up its best sales figures since 2014! According to Nintendo, the NPD Group figures show that, collectively, the different versions of Nintendo 3DS hardware sold more than 750,000 units in the US during the Xmas buying season – that’s a 27% increase over the same period a year ago. That means the ‘Nintendo 3DS family of systems’ has sold more than 21 million units in the US alone.
The NPD Group also reported the Nintendo Switch sold more units than any other console in December. 1.5 million Switch consoles sold in the during Decembers fives weeks. The Switch has now sold 4.8 million units, making it the fastest selling games console in US history.
