Emily Blunt is reportedly set to star as the female lead in the upcoming Dwayne Johnson-led film based on the Disneyland theme park ride Jungle Cruise.
Blunt would play a scientist who teams up with Johnson’s riverboat captain on the hunt for a magical cure. The aim is for a film in the style of The African Queen creatively, but one that also hopes to emulate the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean films.
Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows, The Commuter) is on board to direct the film from a script by Michael Green, J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay.
Filming on the Jungle Cruise is slated to begin in May.
