Sony Pictures has hired Oscar-nominated writer Virgil Williams (Mudbound) to adapt Dana Canedy’s 2008 work A Journal for Jordan into a film.
The true story tale follows Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist Canedy’s love affair with First Sgt. Charles Monroe King. King kept a journal full of poignant life lessons for their newborn son Jordan while deployed overseas.
He began writing the diary, which grew to 200 pages, in 2005 and was killed in Iraq by a roadside bomb in 2006 when Jordan was just seven months old.
Todd Black and Denzel Washington will produce and Washington is expected to direct the movie as well.
