Sade, who has released only two studio albums over the 25 yea, has crafted a new song for next month’s A Wrinkle in Time from Disney Pictures.
The film’s director Ava DuVernay broke the news on Twitter, saying Sade created the original song called Flower of the Universe. DuVernay says:
“I never thought she’d say yes, but asked anyway. She was kind + giving. A goddess. We began a journey together that I’ll never forget. Proud to announce that Sade has created an original song for WRINKLE IN TIME. It’s entitled ‘Flower of the Universe’. And it’s a dream come true.”
The film, an adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s 1962 children’s book, stars Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling. Demi Lovato, Sia and Kehlani have also contributed to the soundtrack.
A Wrinkle in Time comes to cinemas on March 9th.
