ON Animation Studios (The Little Prince) and Hyrum Osmond, who served as head of animation on Disney’s Moana, are teaming for the $70 million CG animated feature Little Nemo in Slumberland.
Based on Winsor McCay’s celebrated fantasy-adventure comic series, the story follows a young boy who journeys through the land of dreams and is said to be a mix of Alice in Wonderland and Hook.
ON Animation chief Aton Soumache says:
“The strip is truly an unlimited source for astonishing adventures. McCay created a world made for CGI a century before the technology existed. It’s a passion project at the heart of ON Animation’s philosophy: a beloved property leading to a story of emotional truth, set against a never-before-seen world.”
Osmond will direct the project which will also involve Frozen head of animation Lino DiSalvo and former Illumination Entertainment VP Tito Ortiz with both producing and spearheading creative development.
