DreamWorks Animation has optioned Aaron Blabey’s best-selling illustrated chapter book series The Bad Guys and has set Tropic Thunder scribe Etan Cohen to adapt it into an animated feature.
The story revolves around four villains – Mr. Wolf, Mr. Shark, Mr. Snake, and Mr. Piranha – who grow tired of others screaming and running away from them and decide to become a force for good… despite an affinity for being bad.
Blabey, an Australian TV and film actor in the 1990s who gave up the job and turned to art and writing, first published the books in the U.S. in 2016 and now has more than 2.2 million copies in print.
