Ahead of the film’s full trailer set to launch later today, the Sicario sequel has been renamed three months out from its release.
Now titled Sicario: Day of the Soldado, the film sees Benicio Del Toro’s mysterious and memorable killer Alejandro return and resume his personal vendetta against the Mexican drug lords who killed his family.
At the same time, he is hired again by CIA operative Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) to start a war between duelling cartels by kidnapping Isabela Reyes (Isabela Moner), the teenage daughter of infamous kingpin Carlos Reyes.
When the mission is exposed, and Graver orders Alejandro to terminate Isabela, the killer’s cold facade cracks. Stefano Sollima helms Sicario: Day of the Soldado from a script by Taylor Sheridan.
The film opens in cinemas on June 29th, and take a look the first official stills below via USA Today.
