Disney has announced an Earth Day 2019 release for Disneynature’s Penguins, a new nature documentary dubbed a coming-of-age story about an Adelie penguin named Steve who joins millions of fellow males in the icy Antarctic spring on a quest to build a suitable nest, find a life partner and start a family.
Targeted by everything from killer whales to leopard seals who threaten his happily ever after, the little fella perseveres with the help of some happy voice over and Imagine Dragons backing music.
The film marks the eighth theatrical release from Disneynature, the Disney-branded film studio launched in 2008 and the most recent since 2016’s Born in China. Alastair Fothergill, Mark Linfield and Jeff Wilson directed.
