Hulu is reportedly in early stages of development on a TV series adaptation of Isabel Allende’s critically acclaimed 1982 novel The House of the Spirits for FilmNation Entertainment.
A search is underway for both a director and a writer to pen the adaptation. Allende will executive produce the story about the life of the Trueba family, spanning four generations, and tracing the post-colonial social and political upheavals of Chile.
The book was adapted in the 1993 film by Bille August and starred Jeremy Irons, Meryl Streep, Winona Ryder, Glenn Close and Antonio Banderas.
