Under Good Shepherd Entertainment, independent South African developer Nyamakop will release its debut game, Semblance, on July 24. The puzzle platformer takes place in a soft, bouncy world where an infestation of hard material has started to spread through the land. It’s up to the little squishy character to mold and deform the landscape, solve challenging puzzles, and bring the land back to life.
This game aims to take the assumptions of platformers — namely the presence and permeance of the platforms themselves — and subvert them. Instead of being a static part of the environment, the platforms in Semblance are pivotal pieces of the gameplay mechanics. The soft and bouncy hero will shape the landscape in order to solve the puzzles. The world is fully moldable and can be squished, bounced, squashed or pushed down as the puzzle (or your own whims) demands.
This will be the first game from Nyamakop, one of the most promising studios in African game development, and will be published by Good Shepherd Entertainment, known for Transport Fever and Diulvion.
Semblance will be out July 24 on Nintendo Switch through the Nintendo eShop, as well as on Mac and Windows PC via Steam.
