Following its premiere at the Warner Bros. Pictures panel at San Diego Comic Con, the first trailer for James Wan’s Aquaman movie, based on the DC Comics title, has gone online. Wan himself says to expect this to be a little different in approach:
“I wanted to create a superhero film that we’ve never quite seen before. I wanted our film to be more unique. So my movie plays more like a science fiction fantasy film than a traditional superhero movie.”
Jason Momoa reprises his role as the reluctant ruler of Atlantis, caught between a surface world constantly ravaging the sea and Atlanteans looking to lash out in revolt. Ultimately he is committed to protecting the entire globe.
Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Temuera Morrison, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Ludi Lin, Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman and Michael Beach co-star in the film which Wan helms from a script by Will Beall, Geoff Johns and himself.
Aquaman opens on December 21st in theaters everywhere.
